The divisional round of the 2021 NFL playoffs is here, and we’ve got a couple of fantastic matchups to kick the weekend off.
First, the soaring Los Angeles Rams will head to Green Bay for the Packers’ first game this postseason. The Rams are coming off a dominant performance over their division-rival Seahawks, earning themselves a pretty comfortable stroll into the second round. They are still dealing with a couple of serious injuries—including Jared Goff who played in relief last week, despite having surgery on his throwing hand just a couple of weeks ago.
Meanwhile, the one-seeded Packers finished the regular season with six straight wins and victories in eight of their last nine. Their offense is firing on all cylinders, which makes the Rams an intriguing matchup. Thanks to a solid roster and brilliant coaches from my current crush Brandon Staley, the Rams have the best scoring defense in the league. As always, it’s a Lions’ fan duty to root against the Packers, but if the Rams lose and Staley becomes available to interview... well, that’s not too bad of a consolation prize.
We cap off the night of football with an AFC battle of two electric teams. On one side, you’ve got Josh Allen and the Bills, who have one of the most exciting, high-scoring offenses in the league. On the other side, you’ve got Lamar Jackson—last year’s MVP who now has his first playoff win under his belt.
