While reactions are mixed, there are a lot of interesting angles to this unusual hire.

Although not yet official, the news is trending towards official-making things, the usual mouths of the NFL operating around what they are told they can release, and when. No mistake, Dan Campbell—fresh from the New Orleans Saints—will be the next head coach of the Detroit Lions.

While the introduction has not yet happened, there’s still plenty of time to react, contemplate and discuss. On the latest podcast, we address the fan concern and mixed reception of the news, and his unusual resume which brings interesting questions to mind. We discuss who his coordinators could be, how he will work with new general manager Brad Holmes, and what coaching philosophy he will bring to Detroit. We also question if the hire fits with ownership’s message that they were seeking experienced leadership.

The next few weeks as the coaching staff is announced should prove to be fascinating, and we’ll have a series of podcasts coming that will continue to dive into the Campbell hire, with interest towards his time in both Miami (as an interim head coach in 2015) and working with Sean Payton in New Orleans.
