Moments before Brad Holmes’ introductory press conference Tuesday afternoon, word got out that Aaron Glenn is set to become the Lions’ new defensive coordinator.
Sources: #Saints secondary coach Aaron Glenn is headed to the #Lions as their defensive coordinator. The two sides are closing in on a deal. He’ll join Dan Campbell in Detroit after the two were together in New Orleans.

Our own Ryan Mathews (@RyanPOD on twitter) gave his enthusiastic thoughts on the prospect of Glenn becoming the Lions DC just yesterday.
However, word dropped late on Tuesday that a deal had not quite been finalized yet. According to Josina Anderson, Glenn is considering two other teams right now. She did say Glenn could very well still end up in Detroit, it’s just “not a 100% certainty at this moment.”
But let’s dream for a minute, because that’s what Lions fans do.
Question of the day: Would you approve of the Aaron Glenn hire?
My answer: most definitely.
Of all the dots that were connected to the new regime, Glenn seemed to be the clear cut best choice for defensive coordinator. He has a proven track record, especially with developing young talent (see: Marshon Lattimore). That would bode extremely well for the youngins in the Lions secondary like Jeff Okudah, Tracy Walker, and Amani Oruwariye. Heck, may be Glenn can even make Will Harris look decent. Erik Schlitt pieced it together very nicely:
The Saints are one of the better secondaries in the league in the lions have a GM in Holmes Who has shown he knows how to build secondaries it’s a great fit https://t.co/7xhVqmYnee
