Last week, it didn’t seem like the Detroit Lions had much of a chance against a high-octane Minnesota Vikings offense. Kirk Cousins was playing his best, and his arsenal of weapons in Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen seemed bound to overwhelm Detroit’s young and mistake-prone secondary.
And while Jefferson and Thielen got theirs, the Lions actually responded with arguably their best defensive performance to date. The Vikings managed just 19 points and it took a mad dash for them to squeeze out a win on their home turf.
This week, the Lions face a similar threat. Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals have one of the most efficient passing attacks in the league, and with weapons galore—led by Offensive Rookie of the Year candidate Ja’Marr Chase, Detroit will need a repeat performance just to keep this game close.
So can the Lions do it again?
We chatted with Mike Santagata of AllBengals.com to see where the Bengals are vulnerable, where they’re strong and how the Lions match up with the AFC North foe. Check out our First Byte preview podcast below.
