The Detroit Lions have become a trendy upset pick against the Cincinnati Bengals—a fact that should give any juju-minded soul pause as the cosmos lurch in response to such boldness. After all, Mercury is in retrograde for one more night. There’s no such thing as being too cautious.

That said, the Bengals have shown themselves quite beatable, even with a winning record. Outside of the Steelers game, every game they have played has been decided by just three points. Most have come on last second field goals, missed or otherwise; Joe Burrow needed two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to beat the Bears.

But last second field goals have been something of a horror story for the Lions. After taking another backbreaker from Minnesota, the team is reeling, Dan Campbell is emotional and the roster continues to sweat through rough injuries and absences.

The Lions will need a day from the defense to halt the prolific Bengals offense, and the offense will have to move the ball without center Frank Ragnow. Everything is set up for another nailbiter and emotional rollercoaster in Detroit. We can hardly wait.
