Friday open thread: Which player on the Rams would you want on the Lions roster?

Has to be 9 or 99, right? Well, 5 would be nice. Also, 10. Holy cow, they’re loaded.

Each week, as part of our game preview articles, I’ll be using the Question of the Day post to examine the roster of the Detroit Lions’ upcoming opponent. I’ll sort through their top players, narrowing the list based on a few key aspects (like being currently active), then present the following question to the fans base:

Which player on the Rams would you want on the Lions roster?

There’s not a single starter on offense that is an obvious weakness. Literally, every single player is average, to above-average, and even elite. The defense has a couple of holes at the linebacker level, but they also feature two players that are arguably the best players at their position in the entire league. Even their punter is elite.

Matthew Stafford, QB: No. 9 left us far too soon.

Cooper Kupp, WR: Highly efficient and slowly shedding the underrated label as he is gradually becoming a household name. Simply put, he is always open—by 3.7 yards on every route per NextGen stats. And that route running has led to him leading the NFL in receptions (46) and wide receiver touchdowns (7) through six weeks.

Aaron Donald, DT: Three-time defensive player of the year (2017, 2018, and 2020), Donald isn't just elite, but a rare player that only comes along once in a generation. A dominating player who is one of the best interior pass rushers to ever play the game, yet he doesn’t sacrifice run defense in order to get to the quarterback. He is quite simply, unfair.

Jalen Ramsey, CB: One of the true shutdown corners in the league. Ramsey is the current highest-paid player at his position after signing a five-year $105 million ($71.5 million guaranteed) contract last season.

My choice: Aaron Donald, DT

If given the opportunity to secure Donald, I’m sure the Lions wouldn’t pass on it... again.

In fact, Lions’ general manager Brad Holmes even tried to trade Stafford for Donald straight up, but the Rams, of course, wouldn’t bite. Can’t blame him for trying.

Am I right? Wrong? Which Ram would you steal away?
