It hasn’t been the start that either team was looking for, but the Colts and 49ers get a chance to change their fortunes on Sunday Night Football.
Indianapolis was a playoff team in 2020, but following the retirement of Philip Rivers, they were searching for a quarterback to put them over the top. While Carson Wentz has been decent at times this season, it seems like the rest of the roster has fallen apart. The return of Quenton Nelson should help, but with the team sitting at 2-4, the Colts need to make a playoff push sooner than later.
The 49ers had playoff aspirations in 2020, but injuries derailed that dream. With the selection of Trey Lance in the recent draft, it appears as though the 49ers are stocking up for the future. They could still have a shot this year, but once again, injuries have sprung up. George Kittle, arguably the focal point of the offense, is on the Injured Reserve. Trey Lance is out for tonight’s game, himself having replaced an injured Jimmy Garoppolo. Garoppolo returns to helm the offense, but three-straight losses leave the 49ers in perilous territory.
Can the 49ers keep pace in the NFC West, or will the Colts notch a win in primetime?
