NFL Week 8 expert picks: Moneyline, against the spread, more

A lot of tough picks this week. Here are the teams the Pride of Detroit staff is riding this week.

It’s Week 8 of the 2021 NFL season, which means we’re basically at the halfway point of this extended football year. At this point, we have a pretty good idea of who these teams are, which should, theoretically, make these games easier to pick now. I proved that theory somewhat right by going 12-1 in my straight-up picks last week, pushing me atop the POD leaderboard, tied with John Whiticar.

But this week is going to be a lot more challenging because there are some ugly matchups that are tough to pick a winner out of. Panthers-Falcons, 49ers-Bears, Seahawks-Jaguars, Football Team-Broncos, and even Giants-Chiefs all feature teams that are either just plain bad or underwhelming by a significant amount this year.

When you look at this week’s betting lines at DraftKings Sportsbook, eight of the 15 matchups have a favorite of just four points or less. In other words, this is going to be a tough week for pick’em.

Here’s a look at the game in which we all agree on for Week 8:

  • Bengals over Jets
  • Rams over Texans
  • Bills over Dolphins
  • Chargers over Patriots
  • Bucs over Saints
  • Cowboys over Vikings
  • Chiefs over Giants

Here’s a look at the rest of our picks for this week. (Note: Our picks for Lions vs. Eagles will be revealed on Sunday.)
