Lions-Eagles preview podcast: Would Philly fans switch places with Detroit fans?

On the surface, the Philadelphia Eagles and Detroit Lions look to be in similar states. Both are in the first year of a new head coach, both had to sell a bunch of resources this year to manage the cap and build for the future, both have several first-round kicks next year to kickstart that rebuild, and—most important for Sunday—both kinda suck this year.

But the optimism among the fanbases couldn’t be further from each other. Cynics would say it’s because Lions fans are more used, and more acceptant, of failure. But if you look a little closer at each team’s situation, there are legitimate reasons as to why this may be a better time to be a Lions fan than an Eagles fan.

Don’t just take our word for it, that’s also the opinion of our guest for this week’s First Byte, our Detroit Lions preview podcast. Eagles writer Brandon Lee Gowton of Bleeding Green Nation is clearly not feeling great about where Philly is right now. In fact, he’s picking the Lions to notch their first win of the season on Sunday.

He explains why the Lions are in a better spot, how the Lions will win this week, and breaks down everything else we want to know about the Philadelphia Eagles in this week’s episode of First Byte. Check it out:
