Lions vs. Bears expert picks: Score predictions from the staff

Our staff makes their picks for the Week 4 NFC North matchup.

For the first three weeks of the season, one person on staff has picked the Detroit Lions in each game. Each of those staffers got burned by the decision—sometimes in heartbreaking fashion.

But for Week 4, the Pride of Detroit staff is singing a different tune. After last week’s unfathomable loss to the Baltimore Ravens on a record-breaking kick, we here at Pride of Detroit suddenly have a lot more faith in this team. It helps, too, that the Lions are facing a 1-2 Chicago Bears team that is coming off one of the worst offensive performances in modern football history.

Since 2011, these two teams have exactly split in games in Chicago. Five wins for the Bears. Five wins for the Lions. As of late, this has been one of the most even rivalries in the NFC North, despite the fact that neither team has won a playoff game in over 10 years.

But with the Lions at the start of the rebuild and already showing signs of improvement, while the Bears are headed towards a potential changing of the guard at the top of the franchise, the POD staff is in Detroit’s corner this week. Of our 13 staffers, 11 of them are predicting the Lions to pull off the mild upset at Soldier Field this week.

Here are our picks:

Jeremy Reisman (3-0): 20-17 Lions
Erik Schlitt (3-0): 21-20 Lions
Hamza Baccouche (3-0): 20-16 Lions
Kyle Yost (3-0): 24-18 Bears
John Whiticar (3-0): 27-20 Bears
Alex Reno (3-0): 27-17 Lions
Jerry Mallory (3-0): 23-20 Lions
Andrew Kato (3-0): 24-13 Lions
Ryan Mathews (3-0): 20-13 Lions
Kellie Rowe (2-1): 17-13 Lions
Mike Payton (2-1): 21-13 Lions
Chris Perfett (2-1): 25-19 Lions
Morgan Cannon (0-0): 20-17 Lions
