Another week and another surging wellspring of optimism that this week, this week finally the Detroit Lions can get off the “schneid.” What is a schneid, and why were they on it? Those are mysteries you aren’t supposed to talk about. Shut up now. They’re always watching.
In auspicious dating, it is indeed Halloween, and scary things await as the Lions try to look for their first win. The Philadelphia Eagles are an equal frightful mess, and now they will be without their running back Miles Sanders, who heads for the IR. They’ll look to newly drafted Kenneth Gainwell and newly promoted Jordan Howard to carry the load, and at the same time hope that Jalen Hurts can keep things moving.
For the Lions, they have to get over the heartbreak of their loss to the Los Angeles Rams, and hope that Jared Goff can keep improving after his performance for that game. D’Andre Swift’s star is rising, but all of this means little so far for the win column. That may change on Halloween, but it could be another curse and another crash.
Two equally cursed teams are meeting on Halloween and honestly I’m tired of trying to make horror movie analogies. Can’t think of any. I just want to watch Dune again. If you want to watch this football game, here’s how.
