Detroit Lions live Q&A: Franchise tag news and free agency preview

Come join us on the Locker Room app on Wednesday night to talk Lions news and NFL free agency.

NFL: Detroit Lions at Tennessee Titans Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

The Detroit Lions made some interesting decisions this week in preparation for the new league year on March 17. Both Kenny Golladay and Romeo Okwara could be headed for free agency after the team opted not to use the franchise tag on either. They’ve also cut a few players with a few more undoubtedly coming soon.

Though the moves the Lions have made thus far have been mostly met with approval from fans, it’s not always clear why the team has made some of these more difficult decisions—especially during an offseason as abnormal as this one. The Lions are going through a massive overhaul and a complete rebuild (throw the word “retool” in the garbage disposal), and it just so happens to coincide with a significant, unexpected drop in the salary cap.

So on Wednesday night, the Pride of Detroit crew will gather on the Locker Room iOS app to navigate it all and answer any questions you may have. Want to know how a contract restructure works? We’ve got you. Want to know how much spending money the Lions have for free agency? Ask away. Want our free agency wish list? We’ve got it.

Here’s how you can join:

  1. Download the Locker Room app (Currently only available on Apple devices)
  2. Create your profile and make sure to select Detroit Lions as a favorite team
  3. Follow @PrideOfDetroit on the app
  4. Tune in at 7:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday night when our “Room” goes live
