We’re less than two weeks away from the start of NFL free agency. While the next couple weeks may be a bloodbath full of unfortunate cap casualties, the weeks the that follow that represent some of the most exciting days in the NFL offseason calendar. Free agency and the NFL Draft are the most important days for a team building a franchise, and we’re not far from those pivotal moments.
So this week on our mid-week First Byte podcast, we got ESPN’s Detroit Lions beat writer Michael Rothstein on the show to make his predictions for what happens. Specifically, what will happen with Kenny Golladay and what is the future of the quarterback position in Detroit? Could we see one drafted at seven overall.
We also discuss the Lions’ current power structure. Rothstein agrees with us that the Sheila Ford Hamp concerns are all ridiculous, but is there something to be said about too many executives in the room when it comes to personnel decisions. Brad Holmes, Dan Campbell, Ray Agnew, John Dorsey, Chris Spielman. Is the peace and harmony going to be really as easy as the Lions are making it out to be?
