Detroit Lions 2020 first-round pick CB Jeff Okudah had a challenging rookie season, as most first-year defensive backs do, but his work ethic has never been questioned.
“Just seeing that, (it) just instilled a work ethic just knowing that you get out what you put into things,” Okudah said of his late mother’s drive to put herself through nursing school while receiving chemotherapy treatments. “I’m always trying to put my best foot forward and strive to be great.”
That desire to be great has kept Okudah in Detroit this offseason, where he has been a regular at the Lions training facility in Allen Park, according to team president Rod Wood.
“I know Jeff Okudah, just as an example, he was in the building today,” Wood said during a Zoom call last month with members of the media. “He’s in on a regular basis and I think he feels energized about the new coaching staff as well as a number of the other players, too.”
Friday on social media, Sebastian Alvarez, a professional photographer based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, posted a photo of Okudah working out with new Lions wide receiver Breshad Perriman, which Okudah confirmed on Twitter.

Okudah and Perriman may not be the only Lions players who have linked up this offseason. Both wide receiver Tyrell Williams and tight end T.J. Hockenson made social media posts that suggested they may be working out with new Lions quarterback Jared Goff—though these posts were not as definitive.
#Lions WR @TyrellWilliams_ posted a Insta story video of him working out and tagged @JaredGoff16 in it (which Goff also posted in an Insta story).

The QB is too far away to say it’s Goff for certain, but it’s a similar throwing motion. pic.twitter.com/x21m3m414B
Looks like T.J. Hockenson might be putting in some work with Jared Goff. Goff’s training facility, 3DQB, is in Huntington Beach. pic.twitter.com/O3dWZ0Ia1R

It’s also possible wide receiver Quintez Cephus got in on the mix too, as he and Hockenson posted a picture of the pair together after a workout.
Looks like Cephus @QoDeep_87 out there working with Goff @JaredGoff16 and @TheeHOCK8 Hock too!!!!!!! #OnePride pic.twitter.com/9tQ8NlKISR

Phase 1 of spring training camp is set to kick off on Monday, and while in-person on-field workouts aren’t on the NFL’s new schedule until next month during Phase 2, it’s nice to see Lions players putting the work in during a time they are not required to.
