Oregon left tackle Penei Sewell was almost universally praised as the top offensive tackle in this class and most thought he was headed towards a top-5 selection. So when he was available at pick No. 7, the Detroit Lions excitedly grabbed him—and then each other in celebration.
With the Lions in full-on rebuild mode, Brad Holmes needed to nail his first pick as general manager, and it’s safe to say the Lions’ decision-makers believe he got the job done.
In a short video clip released by the Lions on social media, you can see Holmes running around the room hugging anyone and everyone within reach. Team president Rod Wood nearly got knocked over by Holmes excited hug, Chris Spielman—who was calmly standing at the back of the room—got pulled off his spot, John Dorsey went in for a side hug with Holmes and nearly hit the floor after the embrace, then Holmes geared down a tick when greeting principal owner Shelia Hamp Ford, who had just finished celebrating with coach Dan Campbell.

And if you missed the announcement of the selection on NFL Network, along with the Sewell family reaction, the Lions social media account also put that video on its accounts:
