The Detroit Lions got off to a strong start for the 2021 NFL Draft by selecting Oregon offensive tackle Penei Sewell with the seventh overall pick. Lions general manager Brad Holmes said he was one of three players the Lions were hoping to score in the first round, and in case you don’t believe him, he put on one hell of a show after Detroit made the pick.
But Day 2 of the draft is where the Lions really need Holmes to shine. His former team, the Los Angeles Rams, really thrived in Days 2 and 3 of the draft, and it’s likely why Holmes was able to land a general manager job after years of college scouting. The Lions, on the other hand, have notoriously struggled in the second round.
Detroit currently has three picks scheduled for Day 2 of the draft: Picks 41, 72 and 101. As of now, there is plenty of talent on the board, and it just so happens to mesh pretty well with the team’s biggest needs.
LET’S GO LIONS!
