Thursday night, we continued our Thursday Night Mock Draft series, in which several Pride of Detroit staffers team up to do a live mock draft on our YouTube and Twitch channels. Together, we created our own Lions war room and fired up The Draft Network’s Mock Draft Machine.
This week, myself, Ryan Mathews and John Whiticar tested a trade down scenario. The Denver Broncos came calling with the ninth overall pick packaged with a third-round pick and a sixth-round pick. So we jumped on the opportunity.
Then we just let the rest of the mock play out, selecting who we thought were the best value picks at the time while meeting some of the team’s most-pressing needs.
But we weren’t done.
Then we turned the Mock Draft Machine over to our live audience. Allowing them one opportunity to trade during the entire seven rounds, our live chat also chose to move out of the seventh overall pick. Instead of just trading back a couple of spots, however, the fan-controlled mock moved all the way back to 15, getting an extra second and third-round pick in return from the New England Patriots.
In the end we compared the two mock drafts, voted on our favorite outcomes and discussed the likelihood of each mock.
You can watch the entire session below. Of course, if you just want to see the end result of both drafts, you can skip towards the end (1:33 mark). And if you want to be a part of our next Mock Draft Thursday, be sure to follow us on Twitch and YouTube and set up alerts so that you get notifications every time we go live.
