New Detroit Lions linebacker Derrick Barnes has always been a fan of lions. It’s been his favorite animal his entire life, because he believes he shares traits with ferocious animal.
“I think the lion is the king of the jungle,” Barnes said during his first Zoom with Detroit media. “Heart of a lion, that’s what I say I have. Loyalty, power, and just leadership. I think that’s all the traits that I grew up having, so I’ve always been a fan of a lion.”
Barnes has such an affinity for the animal that he actually has a huge lion tattoo already covering his right pectoral.
“I have it tatted across my chest. It’s meant to be.”
Jennifer Hammond of local FOX 2 managed to track down a photo of the tattoo. Check it out.
