Detroit Lions second-round pick Levi Onwuzurike made a big first impression in Detroit after an awesome, profanity-laden press conference fresh off of being drafted. But Onwuzurike wasn’t exactly like that during his time over the past three years with the Washington Huskies.
So to get to know Onwuzurike a little better, we spent 30 minutes chatting with Lars Hanson, the publisher at The Dawg Report—the official Washington Huskies site for Rivals.com. Hanson gave us insight into Onwuzurike the person and the player. He highlighted all of the defensive tackle’s strength, noted his limitations, and also helped project what Onwuzurike’s impact will be both in 2021 and beyond.
Where was Onwuzurike most effective in college? What were some of his best plays at Washington? Where does he project in Detroit’s defense? Can he make a run a Defensive Rookie of the Year?
We talk about all that and plenty more on this week’s First Byte episode.
And if you missed it, check out our conversation with The Athletic’s Tyson Alger about Lions’ first-round pick Penei Sewell.
