On Tuesday, we continued our “Meet the Detroit Lions Draft Class” series live on Twitch. Having already profiled Penei Sewell with Oregon writer Tyson Alger and Levi Onwuzurike with Lars Hanson, it’s time to move onto the Lions’ (first) third-round pick: nose tackle Alim McNeill.

Jonas Pope, the NC State beat writer for The News & Observer and the Durham Herald-Sun, chatted with us for 30 minutes on Tuesday about all things Alim McNeill. Pope gave us his favorite stories from the beat during McNeill’s three years as a Wolfpack. He shared the first time he knew McNeill was special, his most defining play in college, and how he showed improvement every year of his career at NC State.

Additionally, Pope gave us insight into McNeill’s strengths and weaknesses. Then we discussed our thoughts on how McNeill will adjust to NFL and whether his “small” 317-pound frame and “short” arms will cause him troubles with NFL linemen.

You can listen to our short interview below.

Also, here’s some of McNeill’s music we referred to during the podcast:
