We have begun our first installment of the post-NFL Draft First Byte podcasts, in which we are speaking with experts and writers to glean insight and further information on the Detroit Lions draft class. We start at the top with the big man, Penei Sewell, and all manner of things that make his play so big.
Tyson Alger from The Athletic joins the show to discuss Sewell’s time with the Oregon Ducks. He helps us to break down why Sewell was able to start at Oregon at such a young age, and how he won the job as a true freshman. We also discuss what made Sewell so effective in Oregon’s offensive scheme, why that translates to the NFL so easily, and tackled the question of Sewell opting out of the 2020 college season. Finally, we dive into his biggest strengths, and a handful of things Sewell might need to work on as he enters the NFL, when he will take on athletes as big and mean as himself.
As a note, we have now reached partner status with Twitch. This means our simulcast live streams will no longer be live on YouTube for the time being, although we are still uploading replays. However, it does mean big things for the Twitch channel, where First Byte and PODcast are broadcast live, and we can now bring you additional streaming content on that platform; be sure to follow us to know when we go live!
Subscribe to the PODcast on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, or iHeartRadio. Follow Pride Of Detroit on Twitch to get notified when we record the PODcast live and chat with us. Video replays are available on both Twitch and YouTube (and there’s a lot more bonus content on the video replays).
