The Detroit Lions had five players sitting out of Day 2 of minicamp but the reports from coach Dan Campbell remain positive that the injuries are either minor or precautionary.

On Tuesday, EDGE Austin Bryant was not present, while rookies LB Derrick Barnes and CB Jerry Jacobs were in attendance but not participating. Linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin injured his heel roughly halfway through practice and left under his own power.

On Wednesday, Campbell noted that Bryant and Reeves-Maybin had “minor” injuries and were not expected to be long-term issues. He went on to comment that the team was anticipating Bryant would be ready for training camp.

“He (Bryant) just had a minor, little injury last week,” Campbell said. “No big deal. We’re just holding him to be smart about it. We expect him to be ready to go for training camp, full, no problem. He’s been up before that happened. He’s done a nice job for us, but no issues there.”

At practice on Wednesday, both Bryant and Reeves-Maybin missed as expected, as did Jacobs, while Barnes returned to action. Additionally, CB Jeff Okudah and WR Damion Ratley were also absent, but we did not get an explanation as to why until Thursday morning.

“It’s nothing big,” Campbell said at his morning press conference. “He (Okudah) and Ratley just kind of bumped noggins in walkthrough. It was just precautionary. We’re good. Both of them are good.”

The Lions will have their final minicamp practice Thursday afternoon, and Jeremy Reisman will be in attendance. Reisman will provide an update on all injured players and their statuses in his Day 3 minicamp observations article.
