The new preseason structure is sure to shake up the importance of the games.

The new 17-game regular season schedule came with a very worthwhile tradeoff, sacrificing one of the four preseason games. While that doesn’t pose a big picture problem, it changes the nature of what each preseason game means.

Question of the day: How many preseason games will you watch?

My answer: I’ll be watching them all otherwise I’ll be hearing from Jeremy.

In all seriousness though, they’re sure to offer a little more spice. Rookies have limited time to shine and their touches will mean more, meanwhile camp battles between veterans will offer fewer glimpses into who has the edge in real competition.

This year in particular, it’ll be about more than just the training camp battles. The Detroit Lions’ new staff means new coordinators and new scheme, and it’ll be interesting to get a first peek into live action under a new regime.

And for you out-of-towners, with the recent news that the first two preseason games will be nationally televised, you’ll have an opportunity to catch the debuts of the Dan Campbell era.

How many games are you planning on watching this preseason?
