Wednesday open thread: Which training camp battle will you be watching the closest?

With lots of roster turnover, there will be plenty of spots up for grabs.

There are sure to be a lot of position battles going on in Allen Park the next several weeks. With any coaching change, nobody is safe, and even Detroit Lions players who locked down their respective positions last year might be on the chopping block due to schematic changes or simply not being the guy a regime brought in on their own terms.

Question of the day: Which training camp battle will you be watching most closely?

My answer: As it stands right now, I’ll keep my eyes on Tim Boyle vs. David Blough.

It’s entirely possible that the coaching staff decides to keep three quarterbacks, too, and it ends up not being a high-stakes battle. On the other hand, there is always a lot at stake at the backup quarterback position, and in a season where we may see a few games get out of hand due to this roster’s lack of talent, I wouldn’t be surprised if a backup saw regular season time.

Blough has held his own, but he’s also a holdover from the last regime. Whereas the new coaching staff obviously thinks highly of Tim Boyle. Who do you think has the edge heading into camp, and what other positions will you have your eyes on?
