The Detroit Lions know the importance of the cornerback position. Last year, they invested the third overall pick in Ohio State cornerback Jeff Okudah, and they spent a third-round pick on Ifeatu Melifonwu this year. While we’ll have to wait and see whether either (or both) of those selections work out in Detroit’s favor, the use of high draft picks on cornerbacks has proven to be a solid strategy.

This week on the PODcast, we count down the NFL’s top 10 cornerbacks in the league today. Seven of the top 10 were selected in the first round of the draft, two were selected in the second round and only one went undrafted. No Lions made the list this year, but the team is certainly hoping a guy like Okudah has a chance to make a future appearance on the list sometime soon.

Prior to presenting our list of the top 10 cornerbacks, we chatted about the Lions’ worldwide presence and the NFL’s decision on featuring the Dallas Cowboys on “Hard Knocks.” If the Lions had volunteered, who would have been the stars?
