The Detroit Lions hit the midway point of the preseason this week with a trip to Pittsburgh to face the Steelers on Saturday night. For their opponents, this represents their third preseason game, and all indications suggest this will be their “dress rehearsal” game.
For the Lions, that means this will be the first real test for the Dan Campbell regime. The Steelers represent everything the Lions hope their organization could be after a couple years of a complete organizational overhaul.
While we got some answers during the Lions' first preseason game against the Buffalo Bills last week, plenty of questions remain. Can the secondary hold up against a starting quarterback? What will Detroit’s offense look like with a fully healthy receiving corps and all of their weapons intact? Can the offensive line still live up to its offseason hype?
Those are just some of the things we’re hoping to learn on Saturday night. We discuss everything else on this week’s First Byte. Ryan and myself go position-by-position to talk about which players we’re going to be keeping a close eye on, and what our hopes and expectations are for their performances against the Steelers.
