Things are about to get a lot more intense at Allen Park.
On Tuesday morning, the Detroit Lions will throw on the pads for the first time this offseason, giving the opportunity for many players to finally showcase their true talents. If this team is going to wholly assume the knee-biting identity that head coach Dan Campbell promised back in January, this is the time to kick it off. Gritty, hard-nosed, physical, punishing. These are the words that have described this new culture—but all teams strive to be those things. Can the Lions actually accomplish it?
Their 2021 draft class certainly seems to suggest that’s the direction they’re looking to head. With Penei Sewell selected first overall, followed by defensive tackles Levi Onwuzurike and Alim McNeill, there’s a new set of physical players on this roster that are just waiting to be revealed to the public.
That’ll happen on Tuesday morning, and we here at Pride of Detroit will be here to bring you as much live coverage as possible. We’ll be live tweeting from both our site’s account (@PrideOfDetroit) and my personal account (@DetroitOnLion). Additionally, we’ll have a Twitter list below giving updates from all of the Lions media.
In addition to that the Lions will be providing a live stream on Tuesday with glances at practice and live analysis. That video, embedded below, should go live around 8:30 a.m. ET.
Until then, happy pad day everyone! Let’s get physical and, more importantly, stay healthy today.
