Though the Detroit Lions’ initial 53-man roster has been set, the front office is far from being done tinkering. With game day a week and a half away, the Lions still need to create their 16-man practice squad roster, and with a couple of injury moves expected, their 53-man roster is likely to change on Wednesday and beyond.
NFL teams have until noon E.T. on Wednesday to put in any waiver claims for the players waived over the last couple of days. At that time, teams will be notified if they were awarded any players, and they will have to make a decision on the corresponding move to fit that player on their 53-man roster. After the waiver claims are settled, teams can start signing players to their practice squad. (For more rules on the practice squad, check out our explainer here).
We’ll be tracking it all right here. If a former Lions player is claimed by another team, it’ll be in our tracker. If the Lions are awarded a player on waivers, it’ll be in our tracker. And as the Lions build their 16-man practice squad, we’ll update it below.
The fun continues around noon - 1 p.m. ET today!
