On Wednesday afternoon, the Detroit Lions announced that the following 15 players have signed to their practice squad for the 2021 season:
- RB Craig Reynolds
- RB Dedrick Mills
- WR Javon McKinley
- WR Sage Surratt
- TE Brock Wright
- TE Alize Mack
- G Tommy Kraemer
- OT Darrin Paulo
- DT Bruce Hector
- DT Miles Brown
- EDGE Rashod Berry
- LB Tavante Beckett
- CB Nickell Robey-Coleman
- S Jalen Elliott
- K Zane Gonzalez
All 15 players are from Detroit’s 80-man roster that they began with going into last weekend. Preseason standouts Craig Reynolds, Dedrick Mills and Bruce Hector all made it through waivers and are back on the team.
Also of note, the Lions have their backup nickel in veteran Nickell Robey-Coleman, who should help undrafted rookie—and starter—AJ Parker along. It appears the Lions have moved on from Corn Elder.
Additionally, while Zane Gonzalez didn’t win the kicker competition, he does get to stick around on the practice squad. Randy Bullock does not, as the Lions went with waiver claim Austin Seibert, instead.
There are two reports out there that the Lions are also adding quarterback Steven Montez and tight end Shane Zylstra on their practice squad, but those have yet to be confirmed by the team. If both are indeed coming to Detroit, one of the practice squad signees above will have to be released.
