Lions-49ers recap: 3 players on offense who shined in season debut

While an uneven day left much to be desire, there are flashes of promise for the new look Lions.

We waited a long time for the Lions football season, and the first game did not disappoint for excitement, although the final box score probably left plenty to be desired. The Detroit Lions spent the start and end of their bout with the San Francisco 49ers in tough competition, but much of the middle felt like Detroit had been outclassed by a team that is, admittedly, seen as a playoff contender by many this year.

There’s much to dissect in this game; its hope-giving nature, its fiery attitude, its incontinence from quarterback Jared Goff. The Pride Of Detroit PODcast is on the case and we’re breaking down everything we saw from the season opener, including said incontinence. We’re debating how much of a moral victory you can stretch from this one, and how long such fire can last—it’s quite easy to claim the team is fighting when it’s the first week.

We also break down the offense and defense’s biggest storylines, and three game balls are given to shining members of the new Lions offense as Detroit has, seemingly, established the run in this tilt. Also, after a week of deliberation among Lions fans, Sewell’s return to left tackle was on full display and the top Lions rookie did not disappoint.

We’re giving you the whole game and more on the latest PODcast, along with a short recap of our post-game Twitch stream. Both podcasts are available on feeds now. Thank you for joining us on our sixth season of PODcast.
