Lions-Packers expert picks: Monday Night Football score predictions

We make our predictions for the Lions’ Week 2 matchup against the Packers.

Not many expected the Detroit Lions to be on a national stage this year, no less at the beginning of the season. This offseason, the Lions overhauled everything: their front office, their coaching staff, their roster, their quarterback depth chart. This year’s team is almost unrecognizable from the one Matt Patricia left in his wake, and while most believe that’s probably a good thing, it’s not going to look good right away.

We saw that in Week 1 when the Lions fell behind by 28 points to the 49ers in the third quarter. While they mounted a spirited and unlikely comeback—and were just 24 yards away from tying the NFC West foes—plenty of the team’s weaknesses were glaring last Sunday.

But the Green Bay Packers looked even more vulnerable in Week 1. Aaron Rodgers had one of the worst games of his career against the New Orleans Saints, while the defense had an even worse outing than Detroit’s. Defensive struggles were not a complete surprise to Packers faithful, but the offensive meltdown absolutely was a shock. Throw in the fact that the Saints just got whipped by the Panthers 26-7, and suddenly this Green Bay team looks much more vulnerable than it did a week ago.

So is anyone taking the bait this week and taking the Lions despite being double-digit underdogs on the road? Here are our Lions vs. Packers picks for Week 2.
