This week, yours truly got to complete a childhood dream. Myself and Chris Perfett had the extraordinary pleasure of chatting with the greatest Detroit Lions player of all time. Lions legendary running back Barry Sanders graciously took 10 minutes of his time to answer our questions about the 2021 Lions, the status of the running game in today’s NFL, and tall tales of his sleeping habits during his playing years.
We kicked things off by asking him about his thoughts on Dan Campbell and the new regime. Sanders admitted he likes a lot of things about Campbell and the team’s player/coach approach. However, he warns fans that nothing is guaranteed in a regime change and there are likely rough days ahead.
Sanders then talked with us about how he feels running backs are underappreciated and underpaid. Which led nicely into our discussion about Lions running back D’Andre Swift. Is he the real deal, or is this another case of Lions fans getting fooled again.
We closed out our interview with a light-hearted question. In our interview with Lomas Brown and Herman Moore from this offseason, they told us Sanders occasionally napped on the sideline. Is that possibly true?
