The Detroit Lions continue to work their way through Week 1 practices and for the most part they are staying relatively healthy—with one major glaring concern.
Let’s take a closer look at today’s injury report, noting that any changes in player's participation levels will be bolded.
Not at practice on Thursday
LT Taylor Decker (Finger) — Limited Practice Wednesday, No practice Thursday
A downgrade from limited to no practice suggests either Decker injured the finger in Wednesday’s practice or he suffered a setback in his recovery process. Unfortunately, it’s been over two weeks since the media was allowed to watch practices so it’s unclear when he suffered the injury, leaving nothing definitive to make an assumption on. For now, we will most likely have to wait until Friday, when coach Dan Campbell addresses the media, for an update and potentially more clarity on the situation.
Limited practice on Thursday
DL Michael Brockers (Shoulder) — Limited Practice
DL Nick Williams (Elbow) — Limited Practice
DL Levi Onwuzurike (Hip) — Limited Practice
NB A.J. Parker (Shoulder) — Limited Practice
No changes here from Wednesday. Detroit has three interior defenders limited in practice, but none seem like threats to miss Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers.
Full practice on Thursday
TE T.J. Hockenson (Shoulder) — Full Practice
RB D’Andre Swift (Groin) — Full Practice
Two of the Lions’ biggest offensive weapons remain on track to play in Week 1, barring a unforeseen setback from either two. Hockenson spoke with the media after practice—always a good sign he’s ready to go.
