DL Still the Key to Victory

I believe that the defensive line is the key to the Lions winning in week 3. They have to a) stop RB Cook, b) apply pressure to QB Cousens, and c) let the Lion LBs play a pivotal role in containing short yardage passing.

I have my fingers crossed that Aidan Hutchinson can recover from the thigh injury he sustained last week. I also hope that Charles Harris is able to play. With John Cominsky out, Austin Bryant, Julian Okwara, and perhaps Demetrius Taylor will step up and contribute more than ever too. Although Bryant seems primed to be a disruptor, Taylor might prove to be an X Factor given his relative anonymity.

Alim McNeill, Isaiah Buggs, Michael Brockers, Benito Jones, and again Taylor will be counted on in the interior to continue their tough and stingy ways.

Can Hutchinson do even better than 3 sacks? That would be fun. How about Harris getting at least a pair? Okwara could prove to be a big contributor too. Of course, as I already mentioned I am hoping that the LB corp is even more impactful in this game. Rodrigo could start to make a real name for himself if he can reach the passer or get an interception. I'd settle for a forced fumble and recovery though. I also think that Alex Anzalone might prove to have something to prove too. There's Derrick Barnes too yet to put on a show.

In my opinion the DL and the LBs are what will determine the fate of this game. If they do all that they can do to hold the Minnesota rushing offense, as well as short yardage passing game, then the secondary can control Jefferson.

I hope for another big offensive performance too. St Brown is really establishing himself and one more big game seems entirely possible, if not entirely likely. I have my fingers crossed too that Swift is getting healthier too.
