Inadvertently or not, the Detroit Lions revealed the uniforms they will be sporting for Thursday’s Thanksgiving Day classic game against the Green Bay Packers. In a post on Twitter, the Lions announced that every team playing on Thanksgiving will be wearing this patch to honor the late legend John Madden.

Note: If you’re having trouble seeing the Madden silhouette, it’s a bit easier to see with the image rotated like this so that he’s facing straight to the right:

Madden, who used to regularly call Thanksgiving Day games for both CBS and FOX, passed away in December of 2021 at the age of 85.

If you look a little closer at the image the Lions shared, it also reveals that they will be wearing their throwback uniforms on Thursday. You can tell by the numbers that do not have an outline. They’re just the blocky font from the old-school days.

If you needed any more confirmation that the Lions will be wearing the throwbacks on Thursday afternoon, the Lions social media team essentially gave it away in this Twitter interaction, as well.
