The NFL has taken over Saturdays, and while Detroit Lions fans are most interested in the nightcap against the Denver Broncos down at Ford Field, the two early games should be quite interesting, as well.

The tripleheader starts with a game critical to the Lions: Minnesota Vikings at Cincinnati Bengals. Right now, the Vikings are just two games behind the Lions in the NFC North race, but if they drop this game to the Bengals, that number rises to 2.5 games. In other words, if the Vikings lose this game, they will have to sweep the Lions to jump them in the standings.

Both teams are starting backup quarterbacks, but both teams have shown some life post-Kirk Cousins/post-Joe Burrow. The Vikings have a dynamic and aggressive defense. The Bengals have taken down some playoff contenders in the past two weeks.

That game kicks off at 1 p.m. ET on NFL Network.

The game that follows—4:30 p.m. ET on NFL Network—is Steelers at Colts. While that game has no bearing on Detroit’s playoff chances, it is a big AFC matchup in that tight playoff race. Both teams sport a 7-6 record, with each occupying the final Wild Card spots in that conference. This game will be absolutely pivotal for both teams, so the drama should be worth it.

Until then, LET’S GO BENGALS!
