There have been a ton of awesome videos in the aftermath of the Detroit Lions first NFC North crown ever. There’s Dan Campbell’s postgame speech honoring the veterans on the team who have gone through the wringer with this organization. Or Dan Miller’s amazing call of Ifeatu Melifonwu’s game-sealing interception. Or a compilation of locker room celebration videos from players’ Instagram page.
But the best one of all, per usual, came from the Detroit Lions’ official multimedia team: One Pride Productions.
On Sunday night, they released a video entitled: “Build our Legacy now: Detroit Lions win team’s first NFC North title,” and it’s probably going to make you cry or at least well up.
The video begins in a Lions team meeting on the first official day of the 2023 season: September 1. In the behind-the-scenes video, we see Campbell outline the goals of the season. As the editors intertwine clips from the season—the ups, downs, and everything in between—we eventually land back on Campbell about two-thirds of the way through the video.
He tells the entire team to turn around and look at the wall. There, the Lions’ frustrating history is painted for all to see. No playoff wins since 1992. No division championships since 1993. No league championship since 1957.
“We build our legacy now,” Campbell said. “We build our legacy now. We are in a unique position with this team. We’re able to do something that not many teams are able to do, and that’s to build a legacy.”
One down. Two to go.
