Lions vs. Saints first half live discussion, open thread

Come hang out and chat during the first two quarters of the Detroit Lions’ game against the New Orleans Saints.

The Detroit Lions look to get back on track against a New Orleans Saints team that is also slipping.

The Lions aren’t exactly completely off the tracks, as some would suggest. They’ve won three of their last four games. But it’s not hard to see that they haven’t exactly had inspiring performances as of late, particularly on defense. Detroit has been one of the worst team statistically on defense since the Ravens game. Over the past two weeks, the offense hasn’t carried their weight, either. Jared Goff has turned it over six times combined against the Bears and Packers, and Detroit was a putrid 1-of-5 on fourth down last week.

In a lot of ways, though, the Saints are a good candidate for a bounceback game. Not only are they going through their own struggles, but some of their weaknesses match up perfectly for Detroit. For example, the Saints have really struggled to defend the run as of late—and with the Lions offensive line healthy and their run game as effective as ever, this could be a big game from the duo of David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs.

That said, the Saints can be a dangerous team when Derek Carr is on. And with Detroit’s pass defense going through some serious struggles, this could be a close game on Sunday.

Come hang out with us during the first two quarters of the game, which will kick off at 1 p.m. ET on FOX. Be on the lookout for the second half open thread when we reach halftime.
