Just as it looked like the Detroit Lions offense had hit a wall against the New Orleans Saints, offensive coordinator Ben Johnson pulled out a brillian play that worked to perfection. After getting gifted a Derek Carr fumble, the Lions were down in the red zone. That’s when they dialed up an absolutely perfect reverse to second-year receiver Jameson Williams.
To say that play worked would be an understatement:
A fake to David Montgomery, an end around to Kalif Raymond turned into a reverse to Williams. Just an absolutely brilliant play call, and what a finish by Williams, who leaped from the 4-yard line to the end zone in one of the most athletic looking plays made by the Lions this season.
The play was huge in the game, as the Saints had worked the score back to a one-possession game after Detroit jumped out to a 21-0 lead. However, with plenty of time left in the fourth quarter, the Lions. will still need to finish out the contest.
