The Patriots (2-10) and Steelers (7-5) have faced off 34 times in their teams' histories, with New England holding a 15-14 regular season advantage and a 4-1 post-season advantage. The Patriots have also won six of the last seven matchups between these two teams, but it’s a much different Patriot team than we’ve seen over the past decade.
The Patriots offense has been dismal this season. Currently, they’re scoring just 12.3 points per game, the worst in the NFL, and failed to score a point against the Chargers last week. During that game, starting quarterback Mac Jones was benched in favor of Bailey Zappe and coach Bill Belichick has yet to name a starter. Pittsburgh’s offense isn’t much better, as they’ve been held under 17 points over the last three games and their starting quarterback, Kenny Pickett, is injured and not expected to play.
Get ready for a potential quarterback matchup of Zappe vs. Mitchell Tribusky. Yikes. No wonder the over/under is set at a measly 30 points.
The folks over at DraftKings Sportsbook are favoring the Steelers by nearly a touchdown in this matchup and while the Pride of Detroit staff is unanimously sticking with Pittsburgh on the moneyline, we’re split against the spread.
