Survey results: Lions fans expecting close win over Rams in Wild Card

The results from the latest SB Nation Reacts survey are in and Detroit Lions fans have spoken.

On Wednesday, we polled Detroit Lions fans, asking them two questions for our latest SB Nation Reacts survey:

  1. Are you confident the Lions are headed in the right direction? (weekly poll)
  2. What’s the most likely outcome of Lions vs. Rams?

Here are the season-long results from the recurring weekly question:

Despite securing their 12th victory on the season—a 10-point win over the Vikings—the results from this survey saw a slight dip from the previous two weeks. It’s hard to say what the catalyst for the minor drop could be, but if I had to guess, I’d bet it was because the Lions ended up drawing the Los Angeles Rams in the first round of the playoffs.

So, with regards to the second question—What’s the most likely outcome of Lions vs. Rams?the votes are in and 75% of Lions fans believe Detroit will beat Los Angeles, with the majority (63%) thinking it’ll be a close game.

Here are a few of the explanations from voters (lightly edited for clarity and ease of reading) in the comment section of the original article:

  • jjrod78: “Realistically I think Det should win a close game. But the old Lions fan in me can’t help but think they will let it slip through their fingers in the most heartbreaking fashion possible.”
  • dgittleman: “I hope it's a blowout!! Thinking 30-24 Lions, with Stafford bringing it to within 1 score late in the 4th and we recover an onside kick to secure the win.”
  • KrazyKarras: “Lions in a close one. Better team, playing in front of an insanely loud crowd. Good recipe for success!”
  • CovertSlinky: “I voted we win close, it’s the playoffs and I expect a nail-biter. But I really want us to open a can of kick a$$.”
