If you were wondering how Detroit Lions fans would react to Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford taking Ford Field for the first time since being traded in 2021, you got your answer just about an hour before kickoff.

A stadium, about three-quarters full, met Stafford with a chorus of boos. To be fair, fans were booing every single Rams player who took the field, but Lions fans took it one step further with Stafford. After they were done booing him, Lions fans came out with a very intentional “Jared Goff” chant. Check it out:

While it may be slightly surprising that Lions fans booed Stafford’s entrance—73 percent of you said that fans should not boo Stafford—you have to remember that this is a pumped up Lions crowd tonight, and literally every Rams player got the same treatment. Matthew Stafford may have given this franchise something to cheer about for more than a decade, but on Sunday night, he is the enemy. Nothing more, nothing less.
