After three consecutive drives ending in touchdowns for the Lions, their fourth offensive looked as if it was about to have the same ending as the first three. Unfortunately, the Lions and all their momentum was halted by a blatantly wrong call by the officials in which they missed an obvious neutral zone infraction by Rams linebacker Ernest Jones on fourth-and-five only to call an offsides on the Lions. The call cost the Lions a first down at the Rams 36-yard-line.
The call was so obvious that even the announcers made the comment that the Lions “got” the Rams with their hard cadence. Every replay of the even shows Jones jumping into the neutral zone before any offensive lineman for the Lions moves a muscle. But somehow, someway, it was the Lions who came away with the penalty.
If you missed it live, check out the replay below before the ensuing Lions punt and see for yourself how wrong the officials got this one.
