While quarterback Jared Goff tried to downplay the emotions and drama of facing the team that spent over two first-round picks to kick him to the curb, we all know this one meant a lot to him. He even admitted as much to the media after the game.
“Kind of had to subdue a lot of emotions this week,” Goff said in his post-game press conference.
After the game, he was allowed to let loose.
First, he was greeted by teammates chanting his name before he even arrived:
Then coach Dan Campbell awarded Goff one of the two game balls, but before he did, he delivered a powerful message to the rest of the locker room and to the Los Angeles Rams.
“I”ll just say it like this: you’re good enough for fucking Detroit, Jared Goff,”
At that moment, you can finally see Goff—who is excellent at maintaining his poise in these moments—finally let loose a little bit with a big ole smile on his face.
As for the other game ball, well that went to another Los Angeles Rams alum: general manager Brad Holmes. We already know that on the way down to the locker room Holmes was absolutely going crazy, but this was a big week for him, too. It was the culmination of three years of hard work, oftentime taking the brunt of criticism when results didn’t come right away or he took the unconventional route in the NFL Draft.
But Holmes has his fingerprints all over this roster, and his whole “buddy cops” vibes with Campbell make it feel like this pairing was always going to succeed.
Anyway, here’s the entire video. Watch it 20 times on this Victory Monday:
