For a long time now, Brandon Thorn has been one of my favorite follows on Twitter. If you are unfamiliar with his work, Thorn is an offensive and defensive line analyst who has really put in both the time and effort to be one of the more respected members of the community.

So much so that he now a fixture at the OL Masterminds Summit, which is an event where all of the best minds in the game get together to get better at their craft. On top of that, he is the owner of the ‘Trench Warfare Newsletter,’ which is a substack that puts out a ton of great offensive and defensive line-related content. I have been a subscriber for almost two years now, and if you are into line-play, I highly recommend checking it out.

As it pertains to the Detroit Lions, Thorn recently dropped some data on Twitter for everyone to see, and you’re going to like his view on Lions’ edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson.

Essentially, Thorn took the top-25 pass-rushers in the NFL based on quarterback pressures and applied his own metrics to the group. And according to Thorn’s data, Hutchinson rings in at number three according to his ‘True Pressure Score’ metric—trailing only the Micah Parsons and Nick Bosa.

Thorn also put together this compilation of Hutchinson’s impressive spin move, which has taken his pass rushing skills to a new level this year:

You can check out the entire chart for yourself here, and if you are interested in subscribing to the substack yourself, you can use this link to enter your email.

And now, onto the rest of today’s notes:

  • Lions are rocking the alternate lids for Wednesday’s practice. Assuming that means we see those and the silver uniforms for the regular season finale?

  • I feel like I have said it 100 times this season, but Lions’ right tackle Penei Sewell has been elite this season.
