The Detroit Lions will close out the 2023-24 regular season by hosting the Minnesota Vikings at Ford Field in Week 18, where they will hold an NFC North Championship Celebration ahead of the game. The folks over at DraftKings Sportsbook currently favor the Lions, as both teams need a lot of help to improve their status for the post-season.

The Lions are currently slotted into the No. 3 seed in the NFC and the only way the Lions can move up to the No. 2 seed is if the Lions beat the Vikings, as well as both the Eagles and Cowboys lose. Because the Eagles and Cowboys games are played after the Lions game concludes, there is some motivation for the Lions to win, even though the odds of things changing are slim.

Meanwhile, the Vikings are not technically eliminated from the playoffs, but they would need a lot of help to earn the No. 7 seed. In addition to beating the Lions, they would also need losses from the Packers (who play the Bears at 4:25 p.m. ET), Seahawks (vs. Cardinals at 4:25 p.m. ET), and either the Saints (vs. Falcons at 1 p.m. ET) or Buccaneers (at Panthers at 1 p.m. ET).

Despite the minimal odds of improving their status, the Lions are taking this game very seriously and coach Dam Campbell insists that they’ll be doing everything they can to come away with the win.

“This is about winning this game and we’re going to use our full arsenal here and go win this game. That’s the objective here.”
