It’s been a full week since the Detroit Lions’ two-point conversion fiasco against the Dallas Cowboys, in which the officials reported the wrong player as an eligible receiver, leading the Lions’ go-ahead play to be nullified by penalty. But before we completely move on to Week 18 and beyond, the Lions social media account and Taylor Decker had one last bit of fun mocking officiating.
It all started with a fairly innocuous and mild jab, with the Lions tweeting “reporting for duty” with a video of Decker entering Ford Field on Sunday.
A very clever, very subtle jab.
But then Decker took it one step further by quote tweeting the post and joking declaring that’s not him:
A perfect response to an already funny tweet.
But the Lions weren’t done. The official team account then quote tweeted Decker’s response and hit us with a mic drop tweet:
That, of course, is video of Dan Skipper—the player who officials misidentified as the eligible receiver (instead of Decker) on the ill-fated play.
I love the response from the Lions media department and Decker, who can joke about the play but with enough derision to make their point clear.
Time to move on and talk about the playoff-bound Lions. Onto Week 18.
