The Lions still don’t know who their opponent will be in the opening round of the playoffs or what their seed will be (unless they lost to the Vikings, because I pre-wrote this. Sue me.). All of that will be decided in the 4:30 p.m. ET timeslot, where there are a load of games with NFC playoff implications.
The winner of the NFC East has yet to be decided, as the Dallas Cowboys are in a win-and-clinch scenario against the Washington Commanders. The Philadelphia Eagles could still win the division if they can beat the New York Giants and the Cowboys lose. If both the Cowboys and Eagles lose, it opens up the opportunity for the Lions to grab the two seed.
If the Lions end up staying with the three seed, their opponent will be decided by the results of the 49ers/Rams game and/or the Packers/Bears game. If the Rams win, it’ll be Los Angeles coming to Detroit. If they lose and the Packers win, Green Bay will face off against the Lions in Round 1.
