Discussion: Who do you want to win between the Cowboys and Packers?

Do you want the rematch or another home playoff game?

NFL: Green Bay Packers at Dallas Cowboys Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

The NFL Playoffs are about to begin and Wild Card matchups have been set. The Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Rams will square off against each other on Sunday Night, while the Green Bay Packers will head to Dallas to face the Cowboys, and the final remaining NFC matchup will be between the Philadelphia Eagles and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

I’m sure the league is very happy with all of the inevitable storylines that will come from these matchups, and ratings will surely be high with Matthew Stafford returning to Detroit and Jared Goff looking to stick it to Rams head coach Sean McVay. There is also the chance of a Lions-Cowboys rematch in the Divisional round, which leads us to today’s Question of the Day...

Who do you want to win between the Cowboys and Packers?

I know what you’re thinking. Who cares about what happens in any of the other matchups when the Lions need to focus up and win their game? Well, you’re right, but that’s for the players and coaches to worry about, not us fans. Assuming that the Lions win their game against the Rams, this matchup will decide whether or not the Lions get a second home playoff game, or if they’re headed to Dallas for a potential revenge game. Both are very desirable options depending on who you ask.

For me, as much as it pains me to do this, I’m rooting for the Packers to win so that the Lions will avoid another potential horror story in Dallas, and so that they would get a second home playoff game against either the Buccaneers or the Eagles. (The Packers would play the 49ers if they win.)

The Lions played the Cowboys better than any team in the NFL and nearly won at Jerry World if it weren’t for some shenanigans at the end of the game. If given another chance, I think it would be an extremely close one again. Nothing is easy in the NFL, but playing the Bucs or Eagles at home in the second round should give the Lions a much better chance at moving on and inching closer to a Super Bowl appearance. The Eagles are playing some of their worst football lately, and the Lions already have a win over the Bucs, who also look very unthreatening at the moment.
